Kenyan Startups Shine as NBA Africa Unveils Top 10 Continental Innovators

Kenya, November 25, 2025 - Kenya’s innovation ecosystem is once again in the continental spotlight after NBA Africa announced the ten startups selected for the second edition of its Triple-Double Startup Accelerator, with two Kenyan ventures advancing to the final stage.

The cohort, featuring companies from five African countries, will present their solutions during a Demo Day on December 5 at Carnegie Mellon University Africa in Kigali, Rwanda. The initiative aims to nurture early-stage firms building technologies that shape the future of sports, wellness, and the creative economy.

This year’s call attracted over 700 applications, underscoring the rising interest in sports-focused innovation across the continent. Kenya’s representatives, ProPath Sports and Safia Health, reflect the country’s growing investment in athlete development and health-tech solutions.

ProPath Sports specializes in data-powered athlete development. The company uses performance analytics and a structured training framework to help identify and support emerging talent, aligning with ongoing efforts in Kenya to professionalize youth sports and improve pathways for young athletes.

On the other hand, Safia Health brings a holistic approach to athletic wellbeing. The platform integrates personalized fitness planning, recovery tools, and mental wellness support, an area long overlooked within Kenya’s sports ecosystem. Its solution aims to give athletes consistent access to structured and science-based wellness support.

NBA Africa CEO Clare Akamanzi said this year’s finalists reflect the growing sophistication of Africa’s young innovators. She noted that the wide range of ideas submitted demonstrates the “energy and creativity shaping the continent’s sports and creative sectors,” adding that these startups illustrate how African-led solutions have the potential to scale globally.
