Hargeisa, Somaliland(Mogadishu24)–Newly inaugurated Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Ahmed ‘Irro’ appointed his 28-member cabinet on Saturday, marking the first major step in implementing his vision for inclusive governance, national unity, and sustainable development.
The announcement comes just a day after President Irro's inauguration ceremony on December 12, following his victory in the November 13 election, where he defeated outgoing President Muse Bihi Abdi, who had led the breakaway republic for the past seven years.
In a statement, the Presidency office said:“H.E. President @Abdirahmanirro has today appointed his new Cabinet, a decisive step in advancing his vision for inclusive governance, national unity, and sustainable development for the Republic of Somaliland.”
The newly formed cabinet excludes deputies and state ministers, underscoring Irro’s commitment to an efficient and streamlined government.
The formation of the cabinet also comes amid regional developments, including the recent agreement between Somalia and Ethiopia in Ankara on the controversial port deal, which has been a significant point of tension in the region.
President Irro’s appointments are expected to play a pivotal role in addressing the challenges facing Somaliland, particularly strengthening governance, fostering development, and maintaining stability in the region.
