Somalia, 14 November 2025 — The Parliament of the North East State, the sixth Federal Member State of Somalia, has approved today 33 members of the new cabinet appointed by President Abdulqadir Ahmed Ali Firdhiye on 20th October
Speaker of the Parliament, Aadan Abdullahi Aw-Hassan, alongside President Abdulqadir Ahmed Ali and Vice President Abdirashid Yusuf Jibril, as well as the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Marwo Amran Ahmed Hassan, and the second Deputy Speaker, Mudane Abdirisaaq Jama Warsame, chaired the first session of the 13th sitting of the North-East State Parliament.
A total of 74 MPs attended the session. Lawmakers granted a vote of confidence—by majority show of hands—to the 20 ministers and 13 deputy ministers who appeared before Parliament today.
Three cabinet members from the 36-member council did not attend the session and were not part of today’s vote.

Speaker Aadan Abdullahi Aw-Hassan thanked the legislators for their participation and approving the members of cabinet.
“The result is as follows: 73 voted in favour, one voted against, and no one abstained. This is how the confidence of the Parliament was secured.”
The endorsement marks the first functioning government for the North-East State since the administration was formalised in August in Las Anod, when Abdulqadir Ahmed Ali Kadiye and Abdirashid Yusuf Jibril were elected president and vice president.
