Gabiley (Dawan Africa) – The President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Cirro, has inaugurated a new oxygen plant at Gabiley General Hospital, marking a significant step in strengthening healthcare services.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Cirro expressed joy that Gabiley now has an oxygen plant capable of producing two and a half cylinders per hour. The facility provides nearly 80 oxygen cylinders, ensuring sufficient supply for the hospital and local community.
Previously, Gabiley Hospital had only six cylinders, forcing staff to request emergency supplies from Hargeisa and Borama.
“It was said that with only six cylinders, the hospital would go begging to Hargeisa and Borama. Today, it has its own plant producing two and a half cylinders per hour, with nearly 80 cylinders available — enough to meet the needs of the hospital, the community, and even other hospitals, thereby lifting a huge burden,” Cirro said.
The Ministry of Health noted that the plant is equipped with a power generator to ensure continuous operation. Cirro emphasized that his administration is prioritizing essential public services, including healthcare, water, and electricity.
In recent days, the President has been in Gabiley meeting community members and regional leaders, pledging that his government will continue addressing other pressing social needs.
