Garowe (Dawan Africa) – Puntland’s Minister of Interior, Abdi Farah Juxa, has announced that the regional state has officially contributed $1,000 to Ethiopia’s Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
Speaking at a ceremony in Garowe celebrating the inauguration of the Ethiopian dam, Juxa described the GERD as a symbol of what Africa can achieve, emphasizing that the project will greatly benefit Ethiopia’s economy and the development of the entire continent.
The minister revealed that he personally purchased a $1,000 share in the dam, calling it a gesture that highlights the importance of collective participation in large-scale future investments.
“We commend the dam that Ethiopia has built, which will soon be inaugurated. It is a major undertaking and a clear example of what Africa can accomplish. We hope this will bring us affordable electricity, and it is a project worthy of support. Personally, I bought a $1,000 share,” said Minister Juxa.
The GERD, with an estimated construction cost exceeding $4 billion, is the largest infrastructure project in Ethiopia’s history and is expected to generate massive hydroelectric power that will benefit both Ethiopia and neighboring countries.
