Saudi Arabia, 27 December 2025 - The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned Israel's decision to recognize Somaliland as an independent state, describing it as a violation of Somalia’s territorial integrity and an internal interference in Somalia's domestic affairs.
In a press release issued by the Ministry on Friday, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its full support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The statement also rejected Israel’s action, calling it illegal and in violation of international law.
“We reaffirm Saudi Arabia’s full support for the sovereignty, unity, and territory of the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Charter of the United Nations, and the Constitutive Act of the African Union,” the statement read.
The Saudi Ministry also expressed that Israel’s recognition of Somaliland constitutes a direct violation of Somalia’s sovereignty and a dangerous step that could cause regional instability.
More from Somalia
“Saudi Arabia categorically rejects any attempt or agreement that undermines Somalia’s unity. The recognition of Somaliland is a direct assault on the principles of international law and the foundational regulations of the United Nations,” the statement added.
The statement comes after Israel announced its recognition of Somaliland, following a teleconference between Israeli Prime Minister and the President of Somaliland.
The decision has sparked international condemnation, particularly from countries and global organizations that support Somalia's unity.
