Palestine, 27 December,2025 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine has reaffirmed its full support for the unity, sovereignty, and political independence of the Federal Republic of Somalia, firmly rejecting Israel’s recognition of Somaliland region.
In an official statement, the ministry said Palestine’s position is consistent with international law, Arab and international consensus resolutions, and decisions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It stressed that Somalia’s unity and sovereignty are essential to ensuring security, stability, and a dignified life for the Somali people.
The ministry strongly condemned Israel’s recognition of Somaliland, describing Israel as an illegal occupying power, and rejected any steps that promote secession or undermine Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and stability.

It added that the move forms part of Israel’s broader attempts, as a colonial power, to destabilize international peace and security—particularly regional and Arab security—in clear violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and peremptory norms requiring respect for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of states.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry also recalled that Israel had previously used the name ‘Somaliland’ as a proposed destination for the forced displacement of Palestinians, particularly from the Gaza Strip. It reaffirmed Palestine’s absolute rejection of any forced displacement plans under any pretext, describing them as a red line, and warned against aligning with such rejected proposals.
