Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somali National Army (SNA) forces successfully repelled an Al-Shabaab assault on SNA bases in Masagaway, a town in the eastern part of the Galgudud region in central Somalia's Galmudug State Sunday.
According to the Somali News Agency, citing army officials stationed in Masagaway, the forces reportedly killed several Al-Shabaab fighters, though the exact number of casualties on either side has not been disclosed.
Al-Shabaab, however, claimed that its fighters temporarily took control of the town, allegedly killing three SNA soldiers and injuring others. These claims have not been independently verified. The clash underscores ongoing tensions in the region as Somali forces continue operations to counter Al-Shabaab's influence.
