Garowe (Dawan Africa) - Puntland authorities in northern Somalia announced Monday the successful capture of four strategic villages in the Almiskad region, following a three-day air and ground operation against Daesh (ISIS) militants. The operation targeted key strongholds in the Baallade (Almiskat) region, with Puntland forces taking control of vital locations, including Sadow, Adale, and Raa-raha.
According to a statement from the Puntland Anti-Terrorism Operations, the offensive resulted in the deaths of numerous Daesh fighters, alongside the seizure of large quantities of weapons and equipment previously used by the group.
“Our operation succeeded in eliminating several ISIS militants, and we have recovered significant weapons and materials that were being used by the group,” the Puntland forces stated in their report.
The areas captured during the operation are considered strategically important and had been strongholds for Daesh militants in the region. This success is part of Puntland’s broader campaign to enhance security, combat extremist groups, and safeguard its territories from such threats.
This operation underscores Puntland’s ongoing commitment to counter-terrorism and regional stability, with authorities pledging to continue their efforts to neutralize militant forces and provide a safer environment for local communities.
