Somalia, 13 January 2026 Somalia’s Ministry of Defence said on Tuesday its forces killed 17 Al-Shabaab militants in an overnight air strike in the country’s Middle Shabelle region.
The operation, carried out in coordination with international partners, targeted the Jabad Godone area where Al-Shabaab was planning attacks against civilians, the ministry said in a statement.
"The operation destroyed weapons and vehicles the group used for their activities," the statement said, adding that the site was being used by the militants to coordinate explosive attacks.
