Somalia,30 November 2025 – Somalia's Minister of Finance, Bihi Iman Egeh, has announced that the government is working on a plan to attract investment from Saudi Arabia to support the country's power sector, with talks already underway on the matter.
“The main topic of discussion during my recent trip to Saudi Arabia was electricity investment,” Egeh said during an appearance on Dawan Media's ‘Miizaan Podcast’.
He added that the government's plan is to lower electricity prices by the end of 2026, expressing confidence that the goal will be achieved.
Egeh also pointed out that the current $100 million investment in the sector is insufficient, and the demand for electricity exceeds exceeds current supply, prompting the search for additional investment.

Saudi Arabia and Somalia have agreed on several development projects, including the construction and maintenance of sports stadia and drilling of water wells to improve access to clean water.
