Somalia, 1 November 2025 — The House of the People of Somalia was once again forced to postpone its scheduled session, raising questions about repeated delays in parliamentary proceedings.
The meeting, initially set to discuss a proposal recognizing 14 October as a National Day, was announced in the previous session.
Lawmakers confirmed the postponement was linked to the 25th Carta Anniversary Conference, held in Djibouti this week which some MPs attended.
Absenteeism has forced multiple session cancellations due to lack of quorum. Leadership has also taken steps to summon members who fail to attend.
Since the opening of the 7th session on 29 September, five sessions have been cancelled, highlighting ongoing difficulties in maintaining a consistent parliamentary schedule.
