Somalia, 25 November 2025 – The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) says its Gaashaan Special Forces have killed an Al-Shabaab bomb expert in the Omar Berre area of Lower Shabelle in a planned operation carried out on Monday night.
According to NISA Statement today, the raid resulted in the death of Hassan Sidow Hussein, who the agency describes as the militant group’s lead coordinator for roadside bomb activities in the region. Three guards accompanying him were also killed.
NISA stated that the unit had been tracking the suspect for an extended period due to his alleged role in organizing and directing militant operations in Lower Shabelle.

The agency said it is intensifying security operations aimed at dismantling remaining militant cells.
In recent, Somali government forces supported by international partners, have carried out airstrikes and ground operations in several areas of Lower Shabelle — a region where al-Shabaab maintains an active presence.
