Hargeysa(Mogadishu24)-The President of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, strongly condemned the Israeli bombings in Gaza during his address at the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Somaliland Police Force on Saturday.
President Bihi criticized Western governments for their involvement in the crimes committed by Israel.
He emphasized that the human rights principles advocated by Western countries appear to have vanished, revealing their double standards in these conflicts.
"The President of the United States visited Israel to extend his support to them; the British Prime Minister also encouraged them to continue with atrocities. Where is the justice? Where are the values and human rights they have been talking about? As of this morning, the death toll stands at 9,500, with 70% of the victims being children and women," the president said.
President Bihi revealed that just last night, three hospitals, one of which was owned by the United Nations, were bombed, killing over 200 Palestinians at a time the U.S. Foreign Minister was in Israel.
"It is unfortunate that the Arab nations are silent about these war crimes in Gaza, while South Africa, a non-Muslim country, condemned the Israeli attacks and spoke about it through their president and parliament," he added.
This comes days after the Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, strongly condemned the bombardment and war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza, labeling the Hamas group as a liberation movement, not a terrorist group.
The Prime Minister reiterated Somalia’s firm stance and support for Palestinians who are facing frequent bombardments by the Israel Defense Forces.
"Hamas is not a terrorist group, but a liberation movement fighting for the freedom of the Palestinian people. Why are those who were pretending to advocate for human rights? Where are those who said they are fighting for children and women’s rights? Unfortunately, the Palestinians are portrayed as terrorists and murdered by the Apartheid state of Israel," said Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
Israel has been conducting air bombings on innocent civilians in Gaza since Hamas launched the deadliest attack on Israel on October 7th, killing at least 1400 Israelis.
