Laascaanood, Somalia – The SSC-Khaatumo regional administration has officially banned the export of scrap metals from its territories, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment.
The new directive, effective immediately, instructs all businesses, companies, and relevant entities operating in the export of scrap metals to cease operations as of April 22, 2025.

“The Ministry hereby notifies all concerned parties that the export of scrap metals is officially prohibited starting today. Security agencies, customs officials, and local administrative offices are mandated to enforce this ban in full,” the statement read.
It also warned that violators of the new directive will face legal action.
