Alaska (Dawan Africa) – U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin described their Alaska summit on Friday as marking “great progress,” even as no agreement was reached to end the war in Ukraine.
The leaders held over three hours of private discussions, agreeing on “many points” but leaving key issues unresolved. Trump said he would brief Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders, stressing, “There’s no deal until there’s a deal.”

Putin echoed a cautiously optimistic tone, noting that the talks fostered an “understanding” that could open a “path towards peace in Ukraine.” He also emphasized potential areas for U.S.-Russia cooperation, including trade, technology, space, and Arctic exploration.
No specific framework for resolving the conflict was disclosed, and both leaders declined questions from the press.
