Bosaso ( Dawan Africa ) – UNDP Somalia, in collaboration with the Puntland Ministry of Security and Police, launched a series of four workshops in Bosaso on Monday aimed at enhancing cooperation between law enforcement and local communities. The workshops, which were supported by the EU and UK, gathered 61 police officers, community leaders, and civil society representatives to focus on establishing Local Police Partnership Boards (LPPBs).
The training, which is part of the Joint Police Program II (JPP II), is designed to build trust, improve policing services, and engage communities as active partners in ensuring safety. The workshops emphasized police reform, coordination across units, and the integration of women's rights into policing strategies.
The JPP II, with a budget of $14.9 million, runs until 2026, focusing on improving police services and strengthening institutional and operational capacities at both federal and state levels. The program is backed by international partners, including the EU, UK, UN Women, and AUSOM.
