Somalia, 22 December 2025 The Somali National Army has reported that it killed around 15 members of Al-Shabaab, three of whom were leaders, following a ground operation conducted on Sunday in Jabad Godane, located within the Xawaadley district of the Shabelle Dhexe region.
A press release issued by the Ministry of Defence of Somalia stated that the operation was the result of specific intelligence on the activities of the group in the region, and it successfully concluded with positive results.
The report indicated that among those killed were key leaders of the group. The names of the leaders involved are as follows:
• Jafar Adan — Leader of Al-Shabaab in the Jabad Godane area.

• Abdirisak Ali — The group's doctor responsible for treating its wounded members.
• Daud — A leader within the group who was operating in the area.
According to the statement, the operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the Somali National Army to secure the region, especially in areas crucial to the fight against Al-Shabaab.
The Somali National Army has emphasized that operations against Al-Shabaab will continue, utilizing all available military resources, along with support from international partners and local groups like the Macaweesley.
