Ethiopia, 22 December 2025 The football tournament for the Horn of Africa Districts Championship came to a close on Sunday in the city of Jigjiga, with Marsin District, which had previously won the district championship of the Qoraxey region, once again claiming the tournament trophy after defeating Godgod District 1-0 in the final.
Godgod, which won the district championship in the Afdheer region, put up a strong fight, but Marsin emerged victorious. The final match was attended by the President of Somali Regional State (SRS), Mustafe Muhamed Omar.
The tournament, which began on 2 December, saw participation from 10 districts, including: Horashagax, Ayshaca, Daroor, Boqlmayo, Mustaxiil, Marsin, Mubaarak, Harawa, Gallaadi, and Godgod, all of which had previously won their respective regional championships.

Godgod reached the final after defeating Harawa in the semi-finals, while Marsin secured its place in the final after overcoming Boqlmayo.
This tournament marked the 4th edition of the regional football championship for the districts, held annually to promote community integration, youth development, and sports skills in the regions.
Marsin District, for the first time, clinched the championship, solidifying its status as one of the top sports districts in the region. The President also encouraged all districts to continue their efforts in developing sports and empowering youth.
