Malaysia, 30 December 2025 Malaysian Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, has firmly rejected Israel's recognition of Somaliland, stating that the move is a violation of international law and humanitarian principles.
Speaking at a press briefing, Ibrahim stated that Israel’s actions were contrary to peace principles, emphasizing that such practices would only exacerbate conflict instead of bringing about a peaceful resolution.
"This action is a violation of international law and humanitarian principles, and it only exacerbates injustice rather than fostering peace," said the Prime Minister.

He warned that the recognition should not be used to forcibly relocate Palestinians to Somaliland or any other region.
The statement comes after the Palestinian group, Hamas, accused Israel of hatching a plan to forcibly relocate Palestinians from Gaza.
The Malaysian Prime Minister stressed that Israel must be held accountable for its actions under international law, noting that its recognition of Somaliland poses a threat to the stability of the Horn of Africa.
