Kenya, December 28, 2025 - Nigeria produced an exhilarating performance to secure a 3–2 victory over Tunisia in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 Group C clash at the Complexe Sportif de Fès on Saturday, booking their place in the last 16 and keeping strong momentum in the tournament.
The Super Eagles took control early and looked to dominate proceedings against a strong Tunisian side. The breakthrough came just before half-time, when Victor Osimhen headed home from close range in the 44th minute, finishing off a precise cross from Ademola Lookman to give Nigeria a deserved 1–0 lead going into the break.
Nigeria continued to assert themselves after the break. Just five minutes into the second half (50’), captain Wilfred Ndidi rose highest to nod in a well-placed corner, again delivered by Lookman, to double the host nation’s advantage. The midfielder’s finish was his first goal for Nigeria, and it underlined the Super Eagles’ intent on the big stage.
As Tunisia pressed for a way back, Nigeria struck again in the 67th minute. Ademola Lookman produced a moment of individual brilliance, driving forward and calmly slotting home to make it 3–0, completing a commanding first part of the contest for the Super Eagles.

Tunisia, however, refused to give up. They sparked a fightback late in the game when Montassar Talbi headed home in the 74th minute from a well-worked set piece, giving the Carthage Eagles a renewed sense of purpose in front of goal. Ali Abdi then added further drama by converting a penalty in the 87th minute, setting up a tense finish as Tunisia pushed for an equaliser.
Despite the late pressure, Nigeria held firm to claim all three points in a thrilling five-goal encounter, keeping their perfect record in Group C with six points from two matches. The Super Eagles have now qualified for the AFCON knockout stage, where they will face Uganda in their final group game.
