Qatar, 27 December 2025 Qatar has rejected Israel's recognition of Somaliland as an independent state, describing the move as a dangerous precedent that contradicts the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
In a statement issued by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday; Qatar reaffirmed its firm stance against any attempt to create division that could threaten Somalia’s unity. Qatar also emphasized its full support for Somalia’s legal institutions, highlighting its commitment to safeguarding the security, stability, and interests of the Somali people.
“The Qatari government firmly rejects any attempt to create or impose other entities that threaten the unity of Somalia,” the statement read. “Qatar again reaffirms its full support for Somalia’s legal institutions and its efforts to protect peace and stability in Somalia.”

The statement further called on Israel to comply with the international community's will to recognize the State of Palestine and work toward a sustainable ceasefire in the Gaza conflict, instead of continuing policies that undermine international law and escalate tensions and instability in the region.
Qatar’s comments came hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed an agreement recognizing Somaliland, a move that has faced widespread international criticism.
