Djibouti, 27 December 2025 — The Republic of Djibouti has strongly condemned Israel’s announcement recognizing Somaliland, describing the move as a blatant violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Djibouti’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said the decision undermines the fundamental principles of international law, particularly respect for state sovereignty and the inviolability of internationally recognized borders.

The statement warned that recognizing a regional entity on the territory of a sovereign state constitutes a dangerous precedent that could destabilize the region and fuel wider political and security tensions.
Djibouti reaffirmed its firm support for the unity and sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia, urging the international community not to confer any legitimacy on the move and to adhere to international law in order to safeguard regional peace and security.
