Somalia, 30 December 2025 Puntland Police Force has released statistics showing the scale of road traffic accidents across the federal state in 2025, highlighting persistent safety challenges despite a reported decline in fatalities compared to previous years.
The Commander of the Puntland Police Traffic and Road Safety Department, Brigadier General Abdifatah Said said that 11,055 road accidents were recorded across Puntland this year.
According to the data presented: 53 people were killed in road accidents, 513 sustained minor injuries, while 86 individuals suffered serious injuries.

Of the 10,000 vehicles involved in crashes, 64 were severely damaged that they could not be returned to service.
The commander said the figures reflect significant human and material losses caused by road accidents, but noted that continuous public awareness campaigns and stricter enforcement of traffic laws have contributed to a gradual reduction in accidents.
He stressed that public cooperation remains key to further reducing road accidents, urging drivers to comply with traffic regulations and follow instructions issued by traffic police officers.
