Somalia, 28 December 2025 The Somali President has warned Israel against attempting to extend regional conflicts into Somali territory, stressing that the country will not allow its land to be used as a base for foreign wars or destabilizing activities.
In his address to parliament today, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud cautioned Israeli leaders against transferring Middle Eastern conflicts into the Horn of Africa.
“We warn Israel and its Prime Minister against attempting to export the destructive wars and conflicts of the Middle East onto Somali territory,” the President said.
The President also rejected any attempt to forcibly relocate Palestinians to Somalia or elsewhere.
“Somalia will never accept the forced displacement of the Palestinian people from their land, whether to Somalia or to any other place,” he said.
He described such efforts as an attempt to undermine the internationally supported two-state solution.
“This is a deliberate effort to destroy the principle of the two-state solution and deny Palestine its independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital,” he added.
The President emphasized that Somalia will not allow its territory to be used as a platform for aggression.
More from Somalia
“Somalia will not permit its land to be used as a base for attacks against other countries,” he said.
At the same time, he stressed Somalia’s commitment to peace.
“Somalia stands ready to contribute positively to regional and international stability,” the President said.
He called on friendly nations and international institutions to support Somalia’s diplomatic and legal efforts in defending its sovereignty.
The President also urged the global community to stand with Somalia in confronting what he described as injustice and blatant violations committed against the Somali state and its people.
He emphasized that safeguarding Somalia’s sovereignty is essential not only for national security but also for the broader stability of the region.
The President's speech came amid heated tension after Israel's Friday recognition of self- declared republic of Somaliland region as sovereign state.
